On Tuesday 5 November Ben Saunders, a Private Client solicitor based in our Bicester office, was invited to deliver a Dementia Friends information Session as part of a regular meeting of the trade union representatives and plant management at the BMW Mini plant in Cowley, Oxford.
Part of the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends social action movement, Ben is trained and authorised to deliver these free Information Sessions to members of the public, companies and other organisations in order to increase understanding and general awareness of the challenges of living with dementia (for both the individual themselves and their friends, family and colleagues).
The 30-minute session was attended by around 20 staff at BMW Mini. It gave the staff new ways of thinking about how diseases of the brain impact on the workings of the brain, and it highlighted the 5 key messages of Dementia Friends:

Dementia is caused by diseases of the brain
Dementia is not just about losing your memory
It is possible to live well with dementia
